Random March flowers

It's spring, April is next week, and I'm only now posting these photos, some which I took in late February to show off winter flowering. Back then, most plants looked happier and were blooming much more than they are now.

We had an early March storm off the gulf that blew hard for two days, bringing stinging salt that coated everything, burning the tops off of most of the non-native, adaptive plants that had survived since summer. Bummer.

And then in late March, a cold front and large thunderstorm met, creating a night of fierce storms with 78+ mph gusts, all of which rolled potted plants to their deaths into the pond, along with two of the rain barrels, the pink flamingo, and watering cans. The new rule is, Anytime something's rumored to be coming, bring things in.

Most of our native plants are cautious and know to stay low till cold fronts don't come anymore -- an unpredictable time that's victim to climate change. You'll be able to recognize the natives in the photos by your inability to recognize them. We live on Pluto, remember.

I've only started to label a few because I'm determined to post this tonight, no matter what. And the formatting is screwy because blogspot is a cranky thing, but I can live with it.
